Roof Collapses at New Canaan Property

Heavy winds collapsed the roof of a construction site at 179 Oenoke Ridge in New Canaan.

The inn collapsed around 1 p.m., the New Canaan Advertiser reports.

New Canaan News reports that the building, known as Maples Inn, has been under construction and no one was hurt.

It appears that the building is slated to become luxury apartments called The Maples.

The inn, formerly known as the Hampton Inn, has been on the National Register of Historic Places since 2004.

A cottage on the property was built circa 1890 and moved to the site when the inn was built.
