    One person is dead and five others injured after a passenger car crashed into a group of 18 motorcycles in Litchfield on Sunday afternoon.

    State police said the crash happened on Route 63 around 1:30 p.m. near the intersection of Norfolk Road, near the Forman School.

    Life-threatening injuries were initially reported and LifeStar was requested to transport two patients, police said.

    The passenger of one motorcycle was killed and the driver was critically injured.

    Two other motorcyclists also suffered serious injuries and are being treated at Hartford Hospital.

    Two others were treated for minor injuries at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital.

    State police have not released the names of anyone who was involved.

    The road was closed for several hours reopened around 6:20 p.m. Sunday.

    The crash remains under investigation. There is no word on whether the driver of the passenger car faces any charges.
