Hartford School Bus Crash Sends Students To Hospital

A school bus crash in Hartford sent several elementary school students to the hospital Tuesday.

The crash happened at about 4:30 p.m. at the intersection of Tower Avenue and Main Street. Police say 13 students and the driver of the car were injured and the children were taken to area hospitals.  The driver of the car was also injured and was taken to St. Francis Hospital.

School officials say the bus rear-ended a car. 

The students onboard the bus were from the Global Communications Academy, an elementary school. 

The students who were not injured remained on the bus until parents were able to pick them up or police could escort them home.

The crash is under investigation.

 As of 9:30 p.m. Tuesday, all but two of the injured students had been released from the hospital.
