Police ID Man Killed in Crash Involving Stolen Vehicle on Broad Street in Hartford

Police have identified the man who died in a crash involving a stolen vehicle that closed part of Broad Street in Hartford on Saturday afternoon.

Officers responded to the intersection of Broad Street and Grand Street around 12:40 p.m. after getting a report of a crash.

According to police, 44-year-old Jose Mendoza, of Hartford, was transported to the hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

A vehicle stolen out of Colchester was involved in the crash. Two people were taken into custody at the scene and two people remain outstanding, according to officers. There is an active search for the two outstanding people.

Broad Street between Russ Street and Park Street was closed while police investigated, but has since reopened. 

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
