Police ID People Killed in Crash in Stamford

Two people are dead and four others have serious injuries after a car hit two poles in Stamford early Monday morning. 

Police said an 18-year-old Stamford man was driving a 2008 Nissan Altima at a high rate of speed, lost control of the car and hit two poles on Canal Street just after 2:30 a.m. 

When police responded, three people were trapped in the vehicle and three others had gotten out. 

Because the wires from the downed poles were energized, emergency crews had to wait for Eversource to turn off power in the area to remove the trapped people. 

They were able to remove two of the three people were from the car and the other person was pronounced dead at the scene, according to police. 

The passenger who died at the scene was identified as 19-year-old Kymoni Pollock, of Stamford. 

The passenger who died after being transported to Stamford Hospital was identified as 18-year-old NiShawn Tolliver, of Stamford. 

The driver and a 19-year-old Stamford resident were transported to Stamford Hospital in critical condition. 

The other two passengers, a 19-year-old and a 20-year-old, both of Stamford, were transported to Stamford Hospital in serious condition.
