Three Critical After Southington Crash

Four cars were involved in the accident on West Street Monday.

Three people were in critical condition after a four-car crash in Southington Monday morning.

According to police, Jason Williams, 24, of Southington, lost control of his Honda Civic while passing another car on West Street just before 7 a.m. The car slid sideways and hit a tractor trailer that was parked in entrance of Wintonberry Gardens, a landscaping shop on West Street.

At the same time, a Chevy Silverado being driven by Brian Green, 41, of Bristol, crossed the center line and collided head-on with a Ford F250 pickup, according to police. The Ford was being driven by Tommy Rodrigue, 42 of Bristol.

Fire crews had to extricate three drivers from the heavily-damaged vehicles simultaneously.  The accident shut down West Street for more than four hours.

Williams was taken to St. Mary's Hospital in Waterbury. Green and Rodrigue were transported to Hartford Hospital, Green by Lifestar helicopter and Rodrigue by ambulance, according to police. All three men were listed in critical condition Monday afternoon.
