Several Injured in Boat Crash

A late-night boating crash on Lake Zoar injured six people on Tuesday night.

A 21-foot ski boat carrying 11 people hit some rocks just before 11:30 p.m., flipping it and sending several people into the water, Newtown police said.

The boat did not have headlights and people were ejected from the boat when it struck a rock, Edward Lundblad, a resident of Lake Zoar, said.

Six victims were brought to shore at Alqonquin Trail then sent to Danbury Hospital. Three were in need of advanced life support, officials said.

Police said none of the injuries were life threatening.

Emergency crews from Newtown and Southbury are assisting Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection in the investigation.
