Several State Parks at Parking Capacity on Labor Day

Several Connecticut state parks have reached parking capacity this Labor Day, according to the Department of Energy and Environmental Protection.

Temperatures climbed past 90 degrees and people all over the state are beating the heat at Connecticut waterfronts on this unofficial last day of summer.

The following state parks are at capacity:

  • Pattaconk Lake Recreation Area in Chester reached capacity at 3:30 p.m.
  • Bigelow Hollow State Park in Union reached capacity at 2 p.m.
  • Kent Falls State Park in Kent reached parking capacity at 1 p.m.
  • Miller's Pond State Park in Durham reached parking capacity at 12:30 p.m.
  • Squantz Pond State Park in New Fairfield reached capacity at 12:15 p.m.

Although to many of us, Labor Day marks the beginning of fall, high temperatures will linger throughout the next few days.

Several school systems have opted to dismiss early in the coming days as a result.
