Scattered Showers Sweep Through Connecticut

A severe thunderstorm warning issued for Hartford County has expired, but scattered showers are sweeping through Connecticut in an isolated fashion and more thunder is possible in the evening.

There are scattered downpours in various locations in the northern part of the state, all isolated.

Norfolk police reported a brief shower and said small hail fell.

A tree fell down in Harwinton, knocking down wires and prompting the closure of Route 222. A tree also fell down on Hopmeadow Road in Simsbury.

The western part of the state was seeing heavy downpours late afternoon and a storm cell is heading toward western Massachusetts by early evening. Some Connecticut towns hit the hardest include Burlington, Simsbury, Enfield, Windsor Locks and Thompsonville.

The Picnic of Remembrance on the Wethersfield Broad Street Green was canceled in the afternoon due to the rain.

The storm had rotation, but nothing bringing it down to ground level.

Monday will be cooler and breezy, followed by a week of higher than usual temperatures for this time of year and sun.
