Strong Storms Knock Out Power

The National Weather Service issued several tornado warnings Saturday.

A strong line of storms moved through Connecticut Saturday evening.

Damage was reported in Kent, Ridgefield and Northfield, according to the National Weather Service.

Connecticut Light & Power reported more than 3,500 customers without power as of 7:30 p.m.  Approximately 1,000 United Illuminating customers were in the dark.

Tornado warnings were issued for parts of Fairfield, Litchfield and New Haven Counties earlier Saturday as a servere  isolated storms moved into the state.

A strong cell moved from New York City into Fairfield County around 11:30 a.m., triggering the tornado warning.  The same cell was spawned tornadoes in New York.

A tornado watch remained in effect for Fairfield, Litchfield, New Haven,  Middlesex and New London Counties until 9 p.m.
