Shaken Baby in New London Dies From Injuries

A New London man arrested for child abuse is now facing murder for the death of a two month old boy.

Police say the child died Saturday afternoon, two days after the child was found unconscious at a New London apartment.

New London emergency officials responded to Browne's apartment around 2 a.m. Friday after 24-year-old Adam Browne called police to report that the two-month old wasn't breathing.

Paramedics rushed the young boy to Lawrence and Memorial Hospital, where he later died.

Police said the child's injuries were not accidental. Browne was arrested and charged with first-degree assault and risk of injury to a minor.

More charges are expected to be filed by the State Attorney's office, according to police.

"The new charge will more than likely be manslaughter in the first -degree in place of the assault first-degree charge," said Deputy Police Chief Peter Reichard.

Browne is being held on a $500,000 bond. As of Friday, he was in prison on suicide and mental health watch.
