Shooting Prompted School Lockdown

The school was in lockdown from 8:15 a.m. to 9:35 a.m. as police searched for the people responsible for the shooting.

Frenchtown Elementary School was locked down for a little over an hour on Thursday because of a shooting.

The shooting was near Avalon Gates Complex, on Old Town Road, in Trumbull, schools officials said.

Students on Frenchtown Bus 42 witnessed part of what school officials called the “unsettling incident,” but arrived at the school without any other problems.

The school was in lockdown from 8:15 a.m. to 9:35 a.m. as police searched for the people responsible and a Trumbull police officer was stationed at the school.

Police caught two suspects around 9:30 a.m., school officials said, and a police officer remained at the school for a portion of the day.
