Singing Coach Accused of Contacting Alleged Victim

A singing coach and actor who is accused of sexually assaulting a 17-year-old girl is now accused of violating a court order by staying in contact with her.

John Harned, 33, of West Hartford, was arrested in November on three counts of second-degree sexual assault in connection with a sexual relationship he allegedly had with a female vocal student.

The juvenile told police on Oct. 29 that the assaults took place over three months while the two worked together on an event at the Spirit of Broadway Theater in Norwich, police said.

The girl's father told police that Harned had been in contact with his daughter through video chat, instant messaging and text messaging.

Harned was charged last month in Norwich with violation of a restraining order and violation of conditions of release.

He has pleaded not guilty and is free on $75,000 bond. He is scheduled to appear Thursday in Norwich Superior Court.
