Six Families Displaced After Fire in New Haven

Six families have been displaced after fire damaged multiple buildings in New Haven Friday.

Fire officials say they responded to the area of Anita Street and Ella T Grasso Boulevard around 1:30 p.m. When they arrived they found large fire in one multi-family home that was spreading to two other buildings. The blaze reached two alarms before firefighters were able to knock it down.

One firefighter suffered a broken finger. No other injuries were reported.

There was significant damage to the building where the fire is believed to have started and moderate damage to the others.

The American Red Cross reports it is assisting fourteen adults and twelve children who were displaced.

The cause of the fire is under investigation at this time.
