Sleigh Stolen from Glastonbury Gift Shop

The Grinch has struck in Glastonbury and the large red antique wooden sleigh outside Emmy Lou’s Ltd. gift shop is missing.

Someone took the 200-year-old sleigh from the front lawn of the shop at 17 Hebron Ave. between 5 p.m. and 9 p.m. on Saturday, according to police.

That sleigh, filled with display gifts, has been parked in front of the store for 27 years during the Christmas season.

Emmy Lou said the sleigh was originally black and she painted it red to look like Santa's sleigh.

Now, she will have to go out and buy another one because it is a little peace of Christmas in Glastonbury.

Police said a driver drove onto the sidewalk from the back of the building and took the sleigh over the weekend, according to police.

The gift shop is asking through its Facebook page for anyone with  information to call police.

Glastonbury police said Officer Adam VanSkiver is investigating. You can reach him at 860-633-8301.
