Smash-and-Grab Robberies in Westport

Westport police are investigating smash and grab burglaries at a shopping complex on Wednesday night.

Burglars broke into the Silver Ribbon Jewelry and stole a cash register containing $50, All- American Barber Club and Phillips 66 Station, police said.

Police responded to the Silver Ribbon Jewelry store at 275 Post Rd East, in the Playhouse Square shopping complex at 10:49 p.m. after a burglary alarm went off. The front glass door of the business had been smashed.

Police checked the Playhouse complex and saw that the front glass door of Kennedy’s All- American Barber Club 295 Post Rd East was also smashed out.

The owners of the All- American Barber Club said nothing had been stolen.

Police found the Sliver Ribbon cash register near 22 Riverside Ave.

The front glass door of the Phillips 66 Station located at 485 Post Rd East was also smashed out. The business owner said nothing appeared to be missing.

The Westport Detective Bureau is investigating.
