Sneaker Deal Turns Sour

Police said the two juveniles used Facebook to arrange the meeting.

An arrangement to buy sneakers outside the Westfarms Mall turned into an armed robbery on Saturday night.

Police said two juveniles are in custody after an armed robbery outside the Ruby Tuesday restaurant at Westfarms around 4:15 p.m. on Saturday.

Police said the victims told them that two suspects displayed knives and stole an iPhone and $320 in cash.

Farmington officers arrested the two juveniles inside the D'Angelo restaurant across the street.

According to police, the suspects met the victims through Facebook's online marketplace and arranged a time to meet to sell them two pairs of sneakers.

The two juveniles were charged with first-degree robbery, fifth-degree larceny and risk of injury to a minor.

They are both due to appear in court on April 11.
