A Stamford woman was seriously hurt when she was run over by her own car.

Police said the victim, a 54-year-old Stamford woman, was parked in a lot at 15 High Ridge Road. Investigators said she was having a problem with her emergency brake. She got out of the vehicle and somehow got the brake released, causing the car to roll backwards.

The car knocked her to the ground and ran her over, then continued rolling until it hit another vehicle that was backing out of a parking space, policesaid.

The victim was taken to Stamford Hospital for treatment. Her injuries are not life-threatening, police said. No one else was hurt.

The crash remains under investigation. Anyone with information should contact the Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Squad at 203-977-4712.
