State Democrats Expected to Back Gov. Malloy for 2nd Run

Connecticut's Democratic Party is expected to endorse Gov. Dannel P. Malloy for a second term in office.

The party faithful are holding their one-day state convention on Friday evening at the Connecticut
Convention Center in Hartford and Malloy and Lt. Gov. Nancy Wyman were expected to receive the party's endorsement.

Democrats were also anticipated to endorse all the incumbent Democratic constitutional officers. The list includes Secretary of the State Denise Merrill, State Treasurer Denise Nappier, State Comptroller Kevin Lembo and Attorney General George Jepsen.

Meanwhile, the Connecticut Republican Party is scheduled to open a two-day convention on Friday at the Mohegan Sun. They are expected to endorse congressional candidates and their pick for secretary of the state.

The GOP will endorse their candidate for governor and other constitutional offices on Saturday.
