State Enrolls 13,128 on Health Insurance Exchange

The latest figures show Connecticut's health insurance marketplace has so far enrolled 13,128 individuals since Oct. 1.

Access Health CT announced on Friday that 7,572 applications were for private insurance, while 5,556 were for government-funded Medicaid coverage.

Earlier this week, Jim Wadleigh, Access Health CT's chief information officer, said Connecticut is the only state that has so far enrolled more people in private insurance than Medicaid since open enrollment began Oct. 1.

Wadleigh said larger enrollments in others states have been driven by expanded eligibility for Medicaid. Connecticut, however, first expanded Medicaid eligibility in 2010.

Friday's data also show 301,280 unique visitors to Access Health's website and 39,964 calls answered at the call center.
