Hit-and-Run Suspect Dies Fleeing Police

State Police are investigating after a driver died while trying to flee the scene of an accident on Route 15 Saturday afternoon.

According to state police, 68-year-old Peter Marino, of Middletown, struck a motorcyclist with his Toyota Camry on Route 15 northbound near exit 59, then drove away.

The incident happened around 3:45 p.m.

State polie said 63-year-old Bruce Anderson, of Lancaster, Penn., was thrown from his motorcycle and taken to Yale-New Haven Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

A description of Marino's vehicle was sent out to law enforcement and soon after spotted by police.

When authorities attempted to stop the vehicle, Marino sped off, leading police on a chase. Marino crashed down an embankment near exit 63.

He was pronounced dead at the scene, said state police.

The right lane on Route 15 northbound between exits 62 and 63 in North Haven was closed for three hours as troopers investigated.
