State police are investigating after a 2-year-old was left brain dead Wednesday morning.
Police responded to apartments on Scott Road in Windham at 12:39 a.m. Wednesday and found a 2-year-old unresponsive. Investigators said the child fell from a bed and was in cardiac arrest. He was taken to Connecticut Children’s Medical Center.
Both Connecticut State Police and Willimantic Fire Department responded to the scene.
Sergeant Dwight Washington is a public information officer with Connecticut State Police.
“We were made aware of a two-year-old infant that was in cardiac arrest,” said Sergeant Washington. “It is being treated as a suspicious incident.”
State Police said their focus is gathering more details to help with the investigation.
“We are interviewing witnesses and collecting evidence,” said Sergeant Washington. “No arrest have been made and the case is being investigated by our Major Crime Squad,”

State police say the investigation is on-going.
The Connecticut State Police Eastern District Major Crimes is now investigating the incident, and police said they are treating the incident as suspicious.
