A 3-year-old Stamford girl suffered life-threatening injuries Tuesday morning when she was run over by a station wagon while her mother unloaded groceries from the car, according to police.
Police said the 32-year-old mother parked her Subaru Outback in front of their house on Pine Hill Avenue around 10:15 a.m. Monday. As the woman was helping her children out of the car and removing groceries, the Subaru rolled backward.
According to police, the station wagon ran over the driver's 3-year-old daughter, who was seriously hurt, before the woman managed to shift it into park, stopping the car.
Police said the driver's 20-month-old son was in the car at the time.
The injured 3-year-old was taken by ambulance to Stamford Hospital, then airlifted to Yale-New Haven Hospital for treatment, according to police. Her current condition is unknown, but police described her injuries as life threatening.
