Stolen Car Plunges into Water in New Haven

A stolen car plunged into the water near Sea and South Water streets in New Haven around 12:15 a.m. on Thursday morning and it was empty when crews arrived at the scene.

Emergency workers responded when a resident saw the car, with headlights on and trunk open, go into the water, police said.

Police said the car was later reported stolen from Hamden.

Dive teams investigated and a tow truck pulled the vehicle from the water around 3:30 a.m.
