A Stratford man is facing charges after allegedly breaking into one home on Temple Street, attempting to burglarize another and leading police on a chase into Bridgeport, authorities said.
Police said that the night of Oct. 9, 40-year-old Peter Marino broke into a home at 70 Temple Street and attempted to break into a neighboring house at 22 Temple Street.
Officers responded to the report of a burglary in progress and arrived to find that Marino had fled in a green Honda. When police tracked down and tried to stop the car, Marino led them on a chase onto Connecticut Avenue in Bridgeport, where he crashed into a pick-up truck and was taken into custody, according to police.
Police said Marino confessed to both incidents.
He was charged with home invasion, second-degree burglary, second-degree criminal mischief, reckless driving, engaging an officer in pursuit, criminal attempt at third-degree burglary and third-degree criminal mischief.
Marino was also re-arrested on an outstanding warrant for violation of probation, police said.
He was held on a total of $265,000 bond.
