Problems with a "pit bull-type dog" caused a Plainfield family to call animal control for help on Tuesday night, but the animal control officer ended up needing the help.
The Roberts family called Plainfield police to help on Green Hollow Road because someone else's dog wound not let them leave their home, the Norwich Bulletin reports.
The dog apparently jumped at Plainfield Animal Control Officer Theresa Foss, knocking her to the ground, and the homeowner fired two or three shots at the dog, the Bulletin reports. Police say the dog yelped and ran away.
The dog remains on the loose and police are trying to find out whom it belongs to.
