Central High School in Bridgeport was on lockdown as police investigated a social media threat that turned out to be a reference to a school in New Mexico Friday, according to police.

Later in the day, a bomb threat forced the evacuation of Bassick High School.

Police said the investigation at Central High School started after students circulated a Snapchat photo. Authorities located and detained a student. On Friday afternoon, police said the threat referenced a high school in New Mexico, where authorities apprehended a suspect.

Then, on Friday afternoon, Bassick High School received a bomb threat, and students were evacuated while police searched the campus. Students were allowed to return to school after officers determined there was no threat, but resource officers remained at the school as a precaution until dismissal.
