A federal judge heard arguments in a free speech case involving comments made by a Burlington high school student on an Internet blog.
Avery Doninger is accused of using offensive slang in her online blog to refer to school administrators at Lewis Mills High School. School officials removed her as class secretary, which Doninger said was a violation of her constitutional rights.
The controversy erupted in April 2007 when Doninger was a senior. Doninger, who is now 18, has since graduated.
U.S. District Judge Mark Kravitz heard the arguments in New Haven on Wednesday, and had not issued a decision yet.
