Study: Bridgeport Has Most Pedestrian Deaths

Bridgeport had the highest number of pedestrian deaths in the past three years, according to a group backing mass transit.

A report released Tuesday by the Tri-State Transportation Campaign focused on deadly pedestrian accidents in the region between 2005 and 2007.

It found there were 34 pedestrian fatalities in 2005, 36 in 2006 and 31 in 2007 in Connecticut .

The report shows that number of pedestrians killed between 2005 and 2007 ranged from eight in Bridgeport, followed by Waterbury with six.

At the bottom of the list was East Haven with three.

The study does not count bicyclists as pedestrians.
