Passengers Stuck on Sweltering Acela Train

It was not a fun trip for passengers on board an Acela train from Boston to New York on Thursday afternoon.

The train broke down in Branford around 2:20 p.m.  With temperatures pushing 90 degrees again, that meant no electricity and no air conditioning for the 99 passengers in the train cars, according to an Amtrak spokesperson.

Passengers were not allowed to get off the train, but police were onboard, handing out water to try and keep passengers comfortable in the heat.

Amtrak sent a rescue train to bring passengers on to  New York.
