Swine Flu Closes Wolcott Middle School

Tyrrell Middle School in Wolcott will be closed from 4 p.m. Wednesday through Friday after four students came down with H1N1 swine flu, according to the superintendent’s office.

Two seventh graders and two eighth graders became ill and several others have seasonal flu, school officials said.

The eighth graders had been on a trip to Washington, D.C.

Two hundred middle school students stayed home from the middle school Wednesday, Supt. Tom Smyth said, and 32 parents called and said their children have flu-like symptoms.

All activities have been canceled. The school will be closed so personnel can completely disinfect the building.
