Teen Burglary Suspect Shot With Stun Gun

Police said Jacob Eppner, 18, broke into neighbors' homes.

Police shot an 18-year-old West Hartford man with a stun gun on Friday night as he was running through neighbors’ yards.

Police went to Coolidge Road at 11 p.m. on Friday when a resident called to report someone in the backyard, police said.

As police were investigating, another neighbor ran out of his house, screaming "someone's in my house," police said.

As police checked on that complaint, another Coolidge Road resident called police and reported that someone was trying to enter her house.

Officers responded to that call and found Jacob Eppner, of 25 Coolidge Road, in West Hartford, running through the backyards, police said.

Police shot Eppner with a stun gun and took him into custody.

Police said Eppner had items on him that they believe were stolen from within two Coolidge Road houses as well as two cars on the street.

Eppner was charged with two counts of third-degree burglary, sixth-degree larceny, criminal attempt at Burglary in the first degree, interfering with an officer and first-degree burglary.

He is being held on bond.

No injuries were reported.
