Teen Charged in Friend's Heroin OD Death

A second man accused of leaving a friend in Connecticut to die of a heroin overdose has been arrested in Virginia.

Jason Robert Miller, 19, of East Hartford was charged with a felony motor vehicle crime by a Virginia state trooper last weekend, Glastonbury police said.

He is expected to be extradited back to Connecticut to face manslaughter and other charges.

Authorities say Jeremiah Portman, also 19, was overdosing on heroin on Sept. 17 when Miller and another friend, Erik Loura, dropped Portman off at his home in Glastonbury instead of seeking medical care. Portman's mother found him dead in his bed later that day.

A $250,000 bond was issued for Miller.

Loura, also of Glastonbury, was charged with manslaughter and other crimes last month.
