Teens Arrested, Accused of Stealing Scooters

Hamden police have arrested two teens accused of burglarizing a home and stealing scooters.

Police responded to a home on Pinerock Avenue around 5 a.m. on Thursday after someone forced their way into the garage and stole two scooters worth a combined $2,000, according to police.

Around 1 a.m., four hours earlier, Officer Dennis Putnam had seen two juveniles, 17 and 13-years-old, standing next to two scooters on Davis Street, but they didn’t have the keys or driver’s licenses, so police had the scooters towed away, police said.

As authorities investigated, they determined that the scooters had been stolen in the burglary on Pinerock Avenue, so they arrested the teens and charged them with second-degree burglary, fourth-degree larceny and interfering with a police officer.

The juveniles are due in juvenile court in New Haven on Dec. 18.
