Teens Charged in Armed Home Invasion at Schoolmate's Home

A Danielson man and two 16-year-olds have been arrested in connection with an armed home invasion after robbing a fellow student and trying to get him to open a safe in the home, according to state police.

The 17-year-old victim told police 19-year-old Devin James Bonanno had a gun when he broke into the home just after midnight on Monday and went on to say Bonanno and a masked teen stole $15, a machete and his cell phone before fleeing from his home.

The victim said he knew Bonanno from school, police said, and another witness told officers that the intruders tried to force the victim to open a locked safe.

When police found Bonanno at his home, he admitted to going to the victim’s home with two 16-year-olds to rob the victim, as well as showing a gun, assaulting the victim and trying to force the victim to open the safe, police said.

Police were able to find the victim’s backpack with the machete. They also found a ski mask.

Bonanno and the two teen suspects were charged with home invasion, first-degree burglary, sixth-degree larceny, first-degree robbery, interfering with an emergency call and third-degree assault.

Bonanno was held on $25,000 bond and appeared in court. The two juveniles were issued summons to juvenile court.
