The Mystery of the Sunday Mail Trucks

Some of our NBC Connecticut employees noticed something unusual this Sunday that you don't often see. Mail being delivered!

Mail trucks were spotted in Simsbury and on Route 149 in Colchester.

When asked about whether mail was being delivered this Sunday in Connecticut and why, Maureen Marion, manager of Northeast area corporate communications for the United States Postal Service, wrote to NBC Connecticut in an email that "there is package delivery on Sundays in many locations."

"Look for more of this as we get into the holidays," Marion said. "But.....short answer....yup. You saw right!"

The Sunday package deliveries are "relatively new," she said.

"Last year during the holidays you saw it," Marion said. "But in recent months we are seeing an increase in demand. It is not letter mail. It is packages only."

Signed, sealed, delivered. Mystery solved!

Did anyone else see a mail truck in your neighborhood this Sunday?
