Thousands Were Without Power in Southbury

There were more than 5,000 people without power in Southbury on Sunday afternoon, according to Eversource, but power has been restored.

Outages were also reported in the surrounding towns, including more than 1,700 in Woodbury, more than 1,000 in Brookfield, more than 450 in New Milford and nearly 650 in Oxford.

Brookfield First Selectman told NBC Connecticut the outages were caused by a tree that fell on a transmission line in Brookfield in the area of Flax Hill Road.
