Tim Tebow Set to Play in Hartford Against Yard Goats

The Binghamton Rumble Ponies are scheduled to play at Dunkin' Donuts Park on May 7-9

The Binghamton Rumble Ponies and outfielder Tim Tebow are scheduled to play in Hartford against the Yard Goats on May 7-9.

Tebow, 30, the former NFL quarterback and Heisman Trophy winner out of the University of Florida, is sure to attract plenty of attention.  The game on Wed., May 9 is already nearly sold out with standing room only tickets all that is left for sale.

The Rumble Ponies are the Double-A, Eastern League affiliate of the New York Mets.

"We are proud to be the Mets' Double-A affiliate, and it is an honor to host some of the top talent in the organization," Rumble Ponies president John Hughes told NBC Connecticut. "There is excitement every season, especially this year."

The Yard Goats are looking forward to welcoming Tebow to the capital city.

"One of the great things about minor league baseball is that you never know who you may see play when you come to a Yard Goats game," Yard Goats president Tim Restall said. "Last season, we had several Major League players come through on rehabilitation assignments which was a huge bonus for our fans. We are excited that Tim Tebow will be playing at Dunkin’ Donuts Park with the Rumble Ponies and I’m sure he will love the experience of playing in Hartford."

Tebow started in the minors last year playing in Single-A but moved up this season to Double-A.  This will be his first visit to Hartford.

So far this season Tebow is batting .226 with one home run in 18 games.

Tickets to the games against Binghamton can be purchased online or through the Yard Goats box office at Dunkin' Donuts Park.
