Titans Team Up With Torrington

The Torrington Titans are teaming up with the city parks and recreation department to help raise money for a new portable public address system.

The Titans, which are part of the Atlantic Collegiate Baseball League and run by Our Baseball Haven, will team up with Parks and Recreation for one game in the inaugural 2010 season.

The fundraiser will raise money for the P.A. system at Fuessenich Park and other Torrington-based ballfields. All proceeds from game day walk-up tickets will go directly to the parks and recreation department.

"We and the rest of Torrington believe Fuessenich Park is not only a top-notch facility for the entire city but a focal point in this community and the upkeep is essential," OBH Partner Jason Zammiello said. "Parks and Rec has supported us and will be more than supportive this summer in the Titans' first season. Upkeep of the park is no small job and for that we appreciate what they do."

The Titans and OBH are partnering with Litchfield County non-profits for each game throughout the season. Each non-profit will collect all the walk-up gate receipts at their specific game.

"One of the most widely used facilities in Torrington is Fuessenich Park and we want to ensure that fans and visitors enjoy the facilities and consider the park first-rate,” J. Brett Simmons, Superintendent of Torrington Parks and Recreation, said. "We have to make sure that amenities associated with a top ballpark are comparable, if not better, than other ballparks. We believe this upgrade is needed to enhance the baseball fan experience."
