Tornado Watch Expires

Tornado Threat Ends - Winter Chill on the Way

The National Weather Service issued a tornado watch for the entire state Saturday evening which was canceled shortly after 9:00 p.m.

A line of thunderstorms west of Connecticut weakened rapidly as it pushed through the state earlier tonight. There were a few reports of wind gusts in excess of 35 mph which produced some sporadic and minor damage.

At 9:00 p.m. Connecticut Light & Power reported just under 3,000 customers without power in the state, with 19% of customers in East Haddam in the dark.

Tornadoes are rare in Connecticut, especially in November. No reports of tornadoes were received from this storm system in Connecticut or throughout the region.

Unseasonably cold air will be ushered in as this storm passes, with the coldest air of the season arriving by Tuesday.
