3 Injured When Trains Bump in Bridgeport

Two trains moving at slow speeds collided behind Harbor Yard in Bridgeport, according to officials.

Metro-North said a “work locomotive and a train that was not in passenger service came into contact with each other.”

Both trains were moving at slow speeds and no customers were on either train, Metro-North officials said.

Bridgeport fire officials confirmed three people suffered minor injuries like bumps and bruises.

There is minimal impact to train service.

Metro-North say service is impacted because of a disabled train in Bridgeport, according to Tweets from the rail service.

The Waterbury branch is experiencing delays of 30 to 35 minutes and the rail service is warning New Haven line customers to anticipate delays of up to 25 minutes due to congestion.
