Tree Crashes Down, Scaring Manchester Family

A Manchester family had a frightening morning when a tree came crashing down this morning.

The Melendez family’s house on Bissell Street shook around 8:30 a.m. when a rotted tree fell and a large branch fell on the roof.

Heather Melendez was home with her husband and their 4- and 5-year old son and daughter and they said it felt like an earthquake.

“It was scary. My kids were scared, I was scared. My husband, who has a heart problem, he was terrified. I’m just glad nobody got hurt,” she said.

The family initially thought they were trapped, but they were able to push out one of the doors to escape.

The branch caused some minor damage to the roof.

The family’s plans for the day included going to Six Flags and they still plan to do go once the landlord cuts down the tree and removes it.
