Twin Trick Results in Cop's Resignation

An Orange cop resigns after accusations of sexual assault. The alleged victim thought she was having sex with his twin brother.

Jared Rohrig, the Orange police officer accused of having sex with a woman who thought he was actually his twin brother, has quit amid charges of sexual assault.

Rohrig resigned from the force on Monday night, a move that "was in his best interest as well as the best interests of the town of Orange," according to a statement by Police Chief Robert Gagne, The Connecticut Post reported.

Rohrig, 25, was arrested last month after a woman claimed she believed she was having sex with Rohrig’s twin brother, Joseph. The absence of a cowboy tattoo on his buttocks tipped her off that she was with the wrong brother. She says she tried to stop, but Jared Rohrig continued to sexually assault her in a hot tub.

The alleged assault happened at the Flax Mill Lane home where the brothers live with their family.

Jared is free on $50,000 bail. He's due back in court on October 7.
