Two Kids Hospitalized After Near Drownings

Children in two towns were hospitalized Saturday night after nearly drowning in pools.

Emergency crews were called to a home on Spruceland Road in Enfield around 7:45 p.m. after an 8-year-old girl nearly drowned in her family’s pool police said.

The girl dove into the pool to retrieve toys at the bottom and her hair got caught around a bolt on the ladder. The girl’s mother who was supervising was able to get her out of the water police said.

The child was taken to Bay State Medical Center where her injuries are non-life threatening.

In Middletown police are investigating another possible drowning of a child that occurred at 44 Chamberlain Hill Road.

Emergency crews were called to the home around 8:15 p.m. after notification of a child in distress. The child was taken to an area hospital for treatment. Their condition is unknown.

Police say the incident does not appear to be criminal and is currently being investigated.
