Hartford firefighters are investigating two fires a block away from each other that started after flaming beer bottles were thrown at windows.
Two apartments were damaged in a fire in a multifamily house at 150 Homestead Ave. early Tuesday morning when a flaming bottle was thrown through a window of the unoccupied home, police said,
Fire investigators believe the fire started in the kitchen of the first-floor apartment, which sustained extensive damage.
The call came in at 3:09 a.m., the same time fire was reported a block away, at 37 Cabot Street.
The flaming bottle hit the house, but did not go through a window.
Instead, it fell to the ground and caught part of the ground on fire, police said. There was no damage to the house and no injuries were reported.
