Driver Charged After Slamming into 3 Homes in Thomaston: PD

Two people are hurt after a car barreled into three houses early Tuesday morning in Thomaston, and the driver faces reckless driving charges.

Police said the car first hit the corner of 260 North Main Street, then crashed through two bedrooms of number 270, continued onward and hit number 278.

An 18-year-old man who was in one of the bedrooms is recovering from chest and liven wounds. The driver was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

Speeding is to blame, according to police.

The driver, identified as 31-year-old Tristen Gordon of New Haven, was charged with reckless driving and five counts of reckless endangerment. He was released on a $5,000 bond. He is due in court on Oct. 24.

Car Crashes Through Home in Thomaston

"It was like, "Are you kidding me?" Like literally, through the whole house. You don’t see that," said neighbor Robin Foley.

Neighbors said drivers often speed along this strip of North Main Street and it's not the first time a car has hit a house.

"Something should help because they come off the exit ramp off of Route 8 south, going like a rocket ship," said Dave Salamy.

The step-father of the teen that was injured said he is expected to be OK.

North Main Street was closed for about two hours but reopened around 7 a.m.

((CORRECTION: Police initially identified the driver as Gordon Tristen, but his name is actually Tristen Gordon. The story above has been updated to reflect that.))
