2 Troopers Taken to Hospital After Crash on I-91 in Wallingford

Two state troopers and a female driver were involved in a three-vehicle crash on Interstate 91 North in Wallingford while state police were responding to a medical emergency, according to police. Authorities said it appears one of the troopers struck the back of non-police vehicle.

The cruiser, a state police K9 unit in a Ford Explorer and another vehicle were involved in the crash between exits 13 and 14, police said.

It is still early in the investigation, but police said it appears that one of the troopers hit the back of the female driver's car.

Both troopers, who are from Troop I in Bethany, and the other driver were taken to the hospital to be treated for minor injuries, police said. The dog was not injured and another state trooper responded to the scene to get the dog.

It‘s not clear if the other person involved in the crash was injured.

The left and center lanes were closed, but the scene is now clear.
