U.S. Transportation Secretary Visits Connecticut

Just three weeks after being sworn as the new U.S. Secretary of Transportation, Anthony R. Foxx is paying an official visit to Connecticut to discuss rail investment and economic growth.

At 11 a.m., he met at Union Station in New Haven with Gov. Dannel Malloy, U.S. Senators Richard Blumenthal and Chris Murphy and Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro.

“The investments the Department of Transportation is making in rail are increasing safety across the country, while boosting local economies like New Haven’s at the same time,” said Secretary of Transportation Anthony Foxx. “I’m looking forward to working with leaders in Connecticut and throughout the United States as we continue working to ensure that rail networks are faster, more reliable, more efficient – and above all – even safer.”

The visit comes two months after a train collision in the Bridgeport area left dozens of people hurt.
