UTC To Cut 1,500 Jobs

United Technologies said Monday it will cut 1,500 jobs through 2011. The announcement comes after the Hartford-based company eliminated 900 positions in the first half of 2010.

UTC is the parent company of Pratt & Whitney, Sikorsky Aircraft, Hamilton Sundstrand and Otis Elevator, all based in Connecticut.

In a regulatory filing Monday, the company said it will take restructuring and other costs of $121 million in 2010 related to the job cuts.

It did not specify where the cuts would be. The Connecticut Department of Labor said it had not been notified of any potential UTC layoffs in Connecticut as of Monday afternoon.
