Hazmat Situation Resolved in Vernon

Emergency crews have responded to a house on Richard Road

A hazmat situation in Vernon has been resolved after investigators entered the home and determined that there were no chemicals inside.

DEEP emergency responders made a full entry into a residence at 63 Richard Road and found no evidence of hazardous chemicals.

Firefighters responded to a hazmat situation at a home in Vernon Tuesday afternoon.

Police said the original call was for a medical incident, and were told there were chemicals inside the home once they arrived around 5 p.m.

People in nearby homes were being told to stay inside, according to Michael Pucaro, Emergency Management Director in Vernon.

The Department of Energy and Environmental Protection responded to the scene as well.
